What is conference interpreting?

Conference interpreters are trained in performing simultaneous interpretation for long periods of time. Two interpreters work together in a sound booth. One interpreter plays a supporting role translating unexpected terminology, while the other is interpreting the conference simultaneously into the target language. Simultaneous interpreting is mentally rigorous work that requires years of practice. Each interpreter will study industry specific terminology and will research to prepare for any unfamiliar terminology.
